Brood mares

We are a small private stud concentrating on breeding high quality horses for any equestrian discipline, but specialising in dressage and show jumping horses.  To this end we have invested in top quality broodmares, using Dutch Warmblood and Thoroughbred mares.  We concentrate on looking for super temperaments for the mares as well as of course their conformation and athletic ability, and spend a lot of time handling the foals and youngsters so they get the best possible start.

We currently have the following broodmares (pictures to follow shortly):

  • Amsterdam (Burggraaf x Concorde).  A 6 year old mare purchased from Holland in 2007.  She had a super colt foal in 2009 by the Belgian stallion, Plinius B.  With a lovely temperament and attitude, she is a valuable addition to show jumping breeding in the UK.  She is not in foal for 2012 so will be backed and have some time to compete before we breed from her again.
  • Danzig Star xx (Danzig Connection xx x Thatching xx).  An 11 year old mare, Star was a flat racehorse who really wasn't interested on the track!  She has lovely conformation and is extremely fast.  She competed very successfully at Dressage and Show Jumping before joining us to become a broodmare.  Her first foal was born in 2008, a beautiful filly by Balou du Rouet with great movement, and in 2009 she had a superb filly by the lovely stallion Concorde.  She has been accepted onto the Oldenburg Stud Book.  She is in foal to Warrant (Numero Uno x Nimmerdor) for 2012.
  • Amusora (Florencio x Lancet).   "Rosie" is a 6 year old mare, she has beautiful breeding and lovely movement herself.  Florencio was the 4 and 5 year old World Champion dressage horse and Lancet, ridden by Emma Hindle, represented the UK at the Beijing Olympics finishing in 7th place in the Grand Prix.  She has a truely stunning colt by the beautiful Sandro Hit son, Sandreo, who is proving to be a top producer of dressage horses.  With the superb lines in Rosie's pedigree and "Iggy's" superb temperament and movement, he is sure to be a star of the future.  She is another who didn't fancy a foal yet again so she will be backed and competed for a while before returning to maternal duties.
  • Roltaire (Calvados x Voltaire).  A 13 year old mare bought from Holland in 2006.  She is a well grown mare with a lovely temperament.  She has had a couple of years off from breeding but is in foal to the Heartbreaker son Zambesi for 2012.
  • Meadowfox (Meadowbrook (xx) x John O'Gaunt).  An 13 year old homebred mare who has been broken in and competed successfully in all disciplines as a youngster before retiring due to injury.  She bred a lovely colt foal to Pro Set in 2006 and in 2008 had a super colt foal by Animo.  She is having another year of rest but we hope to put her in foal during 2012.

Not to forget our "babysitter" my first horse Cotton Fox, dam of Meadowfox above.  She does a great job for us since her retirement looking after the foals from weaning until the next year's crop are ready to be weaned.  An invaluable role, she keeps the youngsters under control and teaches them respect!!
